KARL BOOK DESIGN
The objective of this project was to design an editorial book that explores the work of Karl Blossfeldt through a contemporary typographic system. The goal was to create a layout that feels restrained and intentional, allowing the photography to remain central while elevating the reading experience through hierarchy, proportion, and pacing.
I approached this project through structure and negative space. Rather than competing with the imagery, I developed a calm, disciplined grid that supports the work quietly. Serif typography was used to introduce elegance and historical reference, while generous margins and asymmetrical composition created balance. The muted green accent was applied selectively to create rhythm across spreads without overwhelming the content. Every decision was guided by proportion and restraint.
